A Rey day is a good day, that’s what I always say. Rey Azteca has long been our choice for quick and convenient Mexican food in Lake Wylie. A place to celebrate the last day of school, or go to dinner with the kids when my husband is out of town (he’s never been a Mexican food fan, but I married him anyway), we always enjoy Rey Azteca.
With a large covered patio, fans blowing in the summer, it is fun to sit outside to dine. It is unheard of to eat at Rey Azteca without seeing a familiar face or two . . . so don’t go if you’re trying to be incognito!
The menu is fairly standard – - tacos, enchiladas, chalupas, sizzling fajitas and numbered combos with thirty choices for easy ordering.
The Sopa de Pollo (Chicken soup) is a favorite on a chilly day, and I particularly like the Chiles Poblanos on a “chile” day. Ask them to put a bit of extra cilantro on top. They’re always willing to honor special requests!
I’ve ordered the Lunch Fajitas (6.99 for chicken or beef, $7.75 for shrimp) which are a good value and quite wonderful.
Lunches range $4.99 – $7.75, and dinners $7-$12 (not including margaritas!!). With a friendly waitstaff and a festive atmosphere, it is a solid choice for dining out in Lake Wylie.
