The Community Cafe – Lake Wylie

As Bob Barker would say, The Price is Right!  The Community Cafe is a place to get FREE homemade soup and sandwiches, hang out and chat with a couple hundred folks from the community, and walk away feeling refreshed.  Every Wednesday, from 12:30pm-2pm, soup and sammies are served up at the life center at River Hills Community Church

The menu changes each week, and is cooked up fresh.  On May 5, the offering was sopa de pollo and balck bean soup, with grilled quesadillas on the side (in honor of Cinco de Mayo).  Each week is a surprise.  You can dine in or carry out.  I’ve even seen some delivery!  I was in the Clover Community Bank the other week, and two fellas from the church were soliciting orders for delivery.

There is no cost, however donations are accepted.  The Community Cafe has been in operation now for several months, and was started to help out those in need as well as provide a place for the community to just hang out, no obligations, no strings attached.  At first, most of the “customers” were members of the church.  However, it has evolved into a true community event, with local business people, construction workers, and passer-bys coming to enjoy the fare.  Its a wonderful idea, and the soup is quite delightful!
